Marco Rubio just revealed the wildest Air Force One story — and it involves him and other top officials spending 90 minutes debating whether someone on the plane was actually dead.
The Secretary of State spilled the bizarre tale during an appearance on the Katie Miller Podcast, explaining that he and other officials returning from China found themselves in an awkward predicament when they spotted an unidentified person completely motionless in an Air Force One conference room.
“We spent about 90 minutes sort of debating should we make a move?” Rubio recalled. “Should I call the doc? Should we deal with this?” he continued, describing the dilemma that had the nation’s highest-ranking officials genuinely stumped.
The hesitation? Waking someone who was just sleeping deeply could be mortifying. “Because it’s embarrassing if you wake them up,” Rubio said, imagining the person groaning, “Oh, I was just sleeping.” But the other option was way darker. “But if they were dead, like what do you do? You have a dead body on the plane. Who’s going to — what do you deal with that?” Rubio asked.
The person had slept through “a lot of noise,” wasn’t “responding to any of the stimulus,” and had a “difficult” breathing pattern — all reasons the officials got increasingly freaked out. Yet somehow, nobody actually woke them up or called the physician during the entire 90-minute debate.
“Luckily, the person was fine,” Rubio said, offering zero details about who it was — which naturally sent Twitter into overdrive speculating it was someone like Mitch McConnell. The identity of the mystery sleeper remains a total secret. So who was passed out so hard that a room full of government officials genuinely couldn’t tell if they were alive?
